San Diego, January 15, 2021; Surf Cup Sports is delighted to announce the launch of Surf Cup International, in partnership with International Development Academy.
Hosted at Futbol Salou Sports Center in Salou, Spain, over Thanksgiving break, Surf Cup International is a one-of-a-kind tournament, which brings the expertise and global soccer connectivity of Surf and IDA, to a week of high-level competition in one of the most beautiful locations in Europe.
The state-of-the-art facilities in Salou comprise eleven 11-a-side football pitches (2 natural grass, 7 artificial grass with artificial light, 2 latest generation hybrid grass), along with areas for exercise, training, and meeting rooms. This provides the perfect backdrop to compete against top teams from North America, Europe, and beyond.
Surf Cup International is designed to match elite talent from North America and the world with professional European Academies. The tournament will have 5 brackets (3 Men’s brackets and 2 Women’s brackets) and there will be two/four teams from professional club academies in each bracket.
“Surf Cup, based in San Diego, has represented the Best of the Best in youth soccer for over 30 years.”, said Brian Enge, Surf Cup Sports CEO. “We are thrilled to replicate this gold standard event in Europe and welcome top teams from North America and across the globe to compete against the professional club academies.”
“In addition to world-class facilities, Salou is a renowned tourist destination,” said Tournament Director Jordi Gomez. “Families and players will live a unique experience, where soccer meets culture and leisure”.
With the expected return to normalcy in 2021, Surf Cup International and IDA are ready to host players and families from all over the world, who are eager to travel again for great international competition.
